Helpful, friendly and attentive Mayan staff of 12 live on site, provide meal service, daily cleaning of guest houses, common areas and kitchen, and are available 24/7 during guest stays.

Our most spectacular feature, our very own cenote! Includes natural rock stairs and hardwood deck to access the crystal blue waters. Our 13 foot underground waterfall, 10-ton carved Mayan stella, 30 ft water slide, and dramatic lighting are all striking features of our cenote.

La Casa

La Casa is round, quite charming, and is the largest guest house on the property. It has two floors, each with a covered wrap-around outdoor terrace.

The first floor includes a large private bedroom with a built-in king size bed, a beautiful and romantic hand woven hammock, two sitting areas, and a walk-in closet. Built entirely of rock gathered on our property, the Casa is always cool and comfortable although we also provide floor fans should the need arise.

Arched cedar doors lead to the tiled porch protected by the second floor hardwood deck. The porch is an ideal place to lounge in one of two Mayan hammocks or relax in a comfortable sling chair.

A hardwood spiral staircase leads to the second story where the charming kitchen, dining, and living room are located under a spectacular palapa (thatch) roof. Windows dominate the entire dining and living room areas providing incredible elevated views of the grounds. The combination of multiple windows and ceiling fans, ensure this room is always cool and comfortable.

Accessible by two doors, the expansive second story wrap-around hardwood deck is covered and furnished with chairs and chaise lounges providing a shady and comfortable place to read, socialize, or just relax. From this deck, the views of the property are truly fabulous.

Back inside, on the second floor the loft is situated above the kitchen area. The loft is furnished with one double bed…an ideal sleeping space for a child or teenager.

The exotic and enchanting bathroom is also located on the second floor of the Casa.

La Quinta

Constructed of locally milled hardwoods, this one room structure is walled with wooden shutter panels framed with mosquito screens. The shutters allow for an airy and comfortable atmosphere as well as providing for a wonderful view.

Two king beds and two double futons (sofa beds) furnish La Quinta’s ample room. As in most guest houses, ceiling and floor fans ensure a constant and comfortable environment.

La Quinta, the fifth guest house built at Taninah, has a special allure. It is located near the duck pond offering one of the property’s most idyllic views.

The “L” shaped covered deck is furnished with tables and chairs and a Mayan hammock in which to relax and enjoy Taninah’s peaceful serenity. Ceiling fans above the deck generate an extra breeze on warm summer days.

The large walk-through closet affords plenty of storage and hanging space and leads into the sunny, mosaic tiled bathroom. Adding a touch of luxury to La Quinta, the spacious bathroom offers twin sinks and an extra large shower with opposing twin shower heads.

Large screened windows keep La Quinta’s bathroom fresh, breezy, and comfortable. As in all our guest houses, the composting toilet is clean, ample, and odorless.

La Casita

The Casita is patterned after a typical Mayan dwelling. Its walls were built from limestone rocks gathered right on the property. The tall rectangular palapa (thatch roof) keeps the casita cool and comfortable.

The Casita is the smallest guest house on the property, but it is no less charming. Natural light from the Casita’s many doors and windows flood the single room furnished with one king and one queen bed.

At one end of the Casita, a flight of six stairs lead to the charming bathroom.

Although not as large as the bathrooms in the other four guest houses, the Casita bathroom is reminiscent of Robinson Crusoe and is quite charming.

La Casita is located between La Casa and El Bungalow overlooking our terraced lawn areas.

La Cabaña

This enchanting raised platform palapa is made entirely of local milled hardwoods. The Cabaña evokes a sense of a typical tropical island dwelling.

The walls are made entirely of custom wood shutters framed with mosquito screens. Open a few shutters to increase the natural cross ventilation or close them on cool winter nights.

Furnished with two king-size beds, ceiling and floor fans, and a large cedar dresser, the Cabaña is simply charming. Its close proximity to our outdoor common area makes it a popular guest house.

The large, comfortable, and airy bathroom is tiled in a mosaic motif. A walk-through closet provides ample shelf and hanging space.

El Bungalow

The Bungalow is tropical and breezy. Hardwood shutter panels framed with mosquito screens are used as walls around the first floor. This unique construction method ensures a cool and comfortable sleeping space in a unique and exotic setting.

The first floor offers two king beds under twin ceiling fans, a six drawer cedar dresser, and a sitting area. Floor fans provide additional breeze on warm summer nights.

An ample walk-through closet on the first floor of the Bungalow leads to the mosaic tiled bathroom which is large and very comfortable. Natural light is plentiful and the screened windows make it a fresh and airy space.

An exotic hardwood spiral staircase leads to the second story where two queen beds provide additional sleeping quarters for adults or children.

The Bungalow has a large, open but covered porch furnished with colorful Mayan hammocks, leather equipal table and chairs, and wicker furniture. The large porch provides a comfortable and cool place to relax. Sit under the tropical ceiling fans to read a book, socialize, or simply siesta your day away.
